Reversing subscription decline isn’t a single-touchpoint problem — it’s a lifecycle problem. Rebuilding onboarding, renewal, and cancellation prevention flows simultaneously is what made retention compound.

01 — The Challenge

Bully Max is a leading performance nutrition brand for dogs, known for their high-protein formulas and supplements. With a strong subscription model and loyal customer base, they needed to reverse a declining subscription trend and build sustainable retention through strategic email automation.

Their existing flows weren’t optimized for subscription lifecycle — missing key touchpoints for onboarding, renewal reminders, and win-back campaigns that could keep subscribers engaged long-term.

02 — Our Approach

Over 6 months, Beyond Welcome rebuilt the entire subscription email lifecycle in Klaviyo, focusing on retention-first messaging and strategic touchpoints throughout the customer journey. We built a subscription onboarding series with feeding guides and product education, pre-renewal reminder sequences to reduce churn, subscription cancellation prevention flows, win-back campaigns for lapsed subscribers, and cross-sell flows introducing complementary products.

“We’ve worked with agencies on Klaviyo before, but Beyond Welcome actually reversed our subscription decline. The flows they built are driving real, measurable retention.”
